You can make your own, but WHY when Ahlbin’s makes it for you?

what is fire cider?

Fire Cider is a well-known traditional folk remedy used to aid our wellness. Very basically, it is a spicy infusion of raw apple cider vinegar with all sorts of healthful ingredients. There are many different recipes out there that use a variety of ingredients that have specific qualities. At Ahlbin’s, our ingredients include apple cider vinegar, honey, ginger, onion, garlic, lemon, turmeric, horseradish, hot peppers, rosemary & black pepper (all organic and/or locally sourced). These ingredients mingle with the vinegar for over a month, then are strained, leaving a perfect balance of bite, tang, and sweetness to satisfy your Fire Cider cravings.

The ingredients Ahlbin’s uses have been known to be immune-boosting, anti-oxidant, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, and endorphin-releasing. They can also ease digestion, aid sinus congestion, and so much more.

Apple cider vinegar & honey tonics alone or infused with herbs have been around for thousands of years. Actually, they are technically known as “oxymels” which are ancient remedies used for a variety of reasons. “Oxy” – Acid “Mel” – Honey. Fire Cider is considered an oxymel.

Though these apple cider vinegar, herb and honey wellness remedies have been around for ages, Rosemary Gladstar was the passionate educator who, with her students, concocted “Fire Cider” for the first time when she was teaching a class called “Herbs for Winter Health” at the California School of Herbal Studies in the early 1970’s. Inspired by other known apple cider vinegar recipes, the class came up with their own that became the basic formula for Fire Cider.  Today, there are many different versions of Fire Cider, but the common features are always apple cider vinegar, honey, herbs and a little bit of heat!
