Ahlbin’s is passionate about supporting our local farms

about us

Ahlbin’s owner, Kara, started making Fire Cider in her kitchen for her family with ingredients from her own garden. She’s taken her fine-tuned recipe and made it available to her community. The name “Ahlbin’s” carries on the name of Kara’s ancestors who came to the US from Sweden. Her traditional creations are tried and true and based on traditional folk recipes passed from family to family and generation to generation, tapping into all of our roots.

Why did Kara choose AHLBIN as her business name?

“At 18 years old, my great grandfather, Thure August Ahlbin and his brother, Otto, moved from Malmo, Sweden to Boston in 1906. Although AHLBIN was their real last name, the English speaking people at Ellis Island and beyond kept using ALBION as their last name. When my great grandfather became a U.S. citizen my great grandmother suggested they change their name to ALBION to make it easier for us English speaking folk. So hence, my maiden name is ALBION. By choosing AHLBIN Home Made as my business name, I feel I’m keeping the Ahlbin name alive and tapping into my ancestry.” - Kara
